Te Harinui

From December 21, 2019 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm

This Christmas, at our church, we are presenting to the public a Christmas story with a difference. Rather than being about the birth of Christ, this presentation is about the birth of Christianity in Aotearoa New Zealand. It tells of the circumstances that led to the relationship between Samuel Marsdsen and Ngapuhi Chief Ruatara which led to the first Christmas Day presented to the tangata whenua on 25 December, 1814. The presentation is mostly a narrative, interspersed with songs, short e-enactments and overhead images. It will be followed by a sharing a few carols together and finishing with a light supper.
